Mangos

After achieving scale with an industry-significant portfolio of table grapes and stone fruit, Sun World began to concentrate on adding adjacent crops beginning in 2014. That included a focus on mangoes, which were originally primarily consumed in selected geographies, particularly the Caribbean, Latin America and Mexico. The evolving sophistication of the consumer palate, driven by an interest in food and flavors from around the world, changed mangoes from an exotic to a must-have.

In 2023, Sun World accelerated its mango program through the acquisition of the license to the desirable Kankun mango with its sweet tropical flavor, distinctive red blush and early-ripening harvest advantage.

2024 changed everything for Sun World and mangoes when the company acquired Biogold, who managed rights to mango varieties developed by third-party breeders, allowing Sun World to offer their customers options from the world’s largest collection of mango genetics.
