In 2024, Sun World acquired Biogold, a leading variety rights manager recognized as the preeminent global supplier of citrus genetics. In addition to their own breeding program, Biogold manages rights to several mango varieties developed by third-party breeders.  They are also working with a breeding program that has one of the largest collections of avocado varieties globally. All are in-demand assets the combined company is well-positioned to optimize. 

Like Sun World, Biogold holds the rights to a significant portfolio of not-yet-commercialized varieties, making the growth runway for the combined company formidable. This acquisition effectively doubled Sun World's industry-leading work in table grapes, stone fruit, cherries and mangoes, to include a large portfolio of multiple citrus genetics and mango varieties and soon, avocados.

The acquisition of Biogold was largely an absorption of powerful new genetics and the extraordinary team that drove, and will continue to drive, their important work. As significantly, Sun World and Biogold have like-minded corporate cultures that value hard work, humility and a customer-centeric ethos.
